I was standing in the rain, hanging on by a thread, Suddenly the thoughts of you began to fill my head
And so I took another look, and reached for my book, Because I thought I’d write a little song for you instead
About this memory, that lives inside of me, that helps me make it through
You’re like a picture, that’s painted, with every shade but blue

You are the smile that hides behind a frown
You are the reasons why, There’s laughter when I cry, there’s a hello in my goodbye
Well I’ve been around for a long long time
And this much I know is true
That I Want to Know what it’s like to be with you
It was like living in a dream, just trying to make it through the day,
